The Oklahoma Military Heritage Foundation has inducted 281 honorees into the Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame during the past 26 years. Looking forward to the next 25 years, OKMHF developed a plan to honor many more Oklahoma veterans throughout the year and do so in their home communities. We created an Oklahoma Hall of Honor award facilitated by a network of community chapters to supplement and complement our Hall of Fame.
Since launching our Hall of Honor in May 2023, we have established 19 community chapters and have honored 247 Oklahomans. Our first honoree was Bill Parker, a WWII soldier who was in the first wave of troops in the D-Day invasion at Normandy. Our second honoree was Dan Jones, a decorated Vietnam veteran and distinguished clinical psychologist who was inducted into our Hall of Fame two years ago.
Our community chapters are in Broken Arrow, Chandler, Coalgate, Del City, Edmond, Elk City, Enid, Guthrie, Lawton, Mannford, Moore, Norman, Ponca City, Shawnee, Tahlequah, Tulsa, University of Tulsa, Stillwater, and Warr Acres.
A unified chapter of seven Oklahoma Veterans Homes was created this year. A preferred partner group is the statewide Oklahoma Military Order of the Purple Heart.
